How’s it going, ladies and gentlemen. I’m here to tell you that I’m here, I’m queer, and I’m the partner of a soldier in the US Army.
That’s right. My lady just graduated officer training last week. (Let’s have a round of applause for her.) I am very happy for her, and so proud of her. We know, though, that things will be rough over the coming years. We’re prepared. But somehow I don’t think we’re really prepared.
Queer soldiers and their partners are so invisible that I’m starting this blog just so I can hear myself talk. Because I can’t hear anyone else talking. I mean, there are a few people out there, mostly dudes, and there are a few sites getting started, but queer soldiers and their partners have nowhere near the amount of support that straight ones do.
So I’m gonna broadcast this radio signal into cyberspace and hope for signs of intelligent life. Come out, come out, wherever you are!
